How can we support you?

The ministry acts as a "bridge" between the streets and the system, providing professional-level advocacy with a personal touch. Legal & Probation Advocacy: Set Free Sanger is recognized by the Fresno County Criminal Justice Departments as an official place of rehabilitation. Case managers work directly with probation and court officials.

Housing Navigation: Assisting residents in moving through the three-phase recovery strategy:

Phase 1 (Detox): Withdrawal from substances and society to focus on God.

Phase 2 (Rehab/6 Months): Continued discipleship and building work ethic.

Phase 3 (Stability): Pre-exit planning to ensure long-term independence.

Case Management

Case management is the "glue" of the ministry, providing a structured pathway for individuals

to move from crisis to stability.

Holistic Assessments: Identifying immediate needs such as food, medical care, and legal aid.

Individualized Success Plans: Creating step-by-step goals for spiritual growth and community re-entry.

Benefit Advocacy: Helping clients navigate and secure SSI/SSDI, medical insurance, and veteran benefits.

Coordination of Care: Acting as a liaison between the ministry, probation officers, and external healthcare providers.

Permanent & Transitional Supportive Housing

The ministry provides safe, drug-free environments that prioritize dignity and accountability.

Transitional Living: Short-term "ranch" or residential stays (typically 60 days to 6 months) for immediate detox and stabilization.

Work-Life Housing: Residents are required to be gainfully employed, learn to manage their rent, and participate in house chores to build responsibility.

Sober Environments: Strict "no-tolerance" policies for substances to ensure a safe space for those in early recovery.

Set Free Sanger uses a phased approach to ensure residents aren't rushed back into the environments that triggered their struggles.

Phase 1: Transitional Stabilization (The "Detox" Phase)

This is the most intensive period, often involving a stay at the "Ranch" or a dedicated intake home.

Purpose: To "detox" not just from substances, but from the toxic influences of society.

Environment: High accountability and high structure. Residents are typically separated from their old social circles to focus entirely on spiritual and physical healing.

Daily Focus: Bible study, basic hygiene, and participating in the Daily Living Program.

Phase 2: Discipleship & Work Therapy (The "Rehab" Phase)

Once stabilized, residents move into a 6-month commitment within a supportive group home.

Purpose: To build a new "muscle memory" for daily life.

Work Therapy: Residents engage in ministry work details (landscaping, maintenance, or cleaning). This isn't just "chores"—it’s vocational training designed to rebuild a professional work ethic. Community Living: Learning to live in a "family" environment, resolving conflicts without substances, and attending regular church services.

Phase 3: Permanent Supportive Reintegration (The "Stability" Phase)

The final phase prepares the "disciple" for independent living while keeping them tethered to the ministry's support.

Purpose: To transition into a responsible member of the Sanger community.

Employment: Residents are encouraged to find outside employment while still living in the supportive home.

Financial Stewardship: Learning to manage a paycheck, pay "rent" (which often goes back into the ministry to help others), and save for their own future housing.

Day Habilitation & Outreach

These services are designed for individuals who need structured support during the day but may not require 24/7 residential care. This program is designed for "disciples" (residents) and community members who need a structured, supportive environment during the day.

Community Integration: Engaging individuals in volunteer work and social activities to reduce isolation.

Hygiene & Basic Needs: Access to shower, laundry, and hot meals daily.

Work Therapy: A core pillar of the day habilitation. Participants engage in "hands-on work details" to rebuild work ethic, learn new trades, and practice teamwork.

Biblical Education: Daily discipleship classes and Bible studies that replace old habits with spiritual foundations.

Nutritious Meal Service: Providing three hot meals a day. This acts as both a service to the residents and an outreach to the Sanger homeless community.

Physical & Mental Wellness: Daily routines include healthy living practices for the mind and body, ensuring a holistic approach to recovery.

Life Skills Training

To prevent the "revolving door" of addiction and incarceration, Set Free focuses on practical adult education.

Financial Literacy: Training in budgeting, debt management, and the Crown Financial principles.

Job Readiness: Resume building, interview coaching, and fostering a strong work ethic through "work therapy" programs.

Interpersonal Skills: Conflict resolution training and anger management through a Biblical lens.

Educational Advancements: Partnership programs to provide online high school diplomas for the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated.

Conflict Resolution: Learning to handle disagreements within the "family" home without resorting to anger or substances.

Anger Management: Using Biblical principles to identify triggers and replace "street" reactions with self-control.

Coping Strategies: Replacing addictive behaviors with spiritual disciplines like prayer, journaling, and peer "check-ins."

Boundary Setting: Learning how to say "no" to toxic social circles and old environments while building healthy new relationships.

Work Ethic Development: Residents participate in "hands-on work details" (landscaping, facility maintenance, and cleaning). The goal is to rebuild the stamina and discipline required for a 9-to-5 job.

Punctuality & Reliability: Adhering to a strict daily schedule that mirrors the expectations of external employers.

Trade Basics: Exposure to basic tools, outdoor maintenance, and teamwork roles that can be listed on a future resume.
